I would heartly recommend "Clean Code: A Handbook of Agile Software Craftsmanship" by Robert C. It has a lot of good ideas, and explains and justifies them in a clear manner. Unfortunately there are still way too much programming students who write awful spaghetti after graduating. Very impressive for a litterature study . Writing code that is easy read and test is not something that is easy to achieve.
